| Importance of corporate social responsibility for business houses. |

| This sensitive issue was discussed by Mr. Praveen Aggarwal ,General Manager Public affairs &communication, Coca Cola, in his Guest Lecture given to the Students of Mangalmay Institutions . He tried to make future managers aware of the changed environment where in businesses are run for
profits but with some sense of social responsibility.
Gone are the days when businesses are run only for profit making. These days business houses are showing strong sense of responsibility towards society. Actually they should, for the simple reason that they are making profits by exploiting national resources which belongs to the society. He discussed all the phases relating the corporate social responsibility from the phase ”when businesses are run only for profits” to “when businesses are forced by government policies to show social responsibility” to “when businesses houses are coming forward for this cause themselves”. He discussed various ways how businesses are returning favour to society as well.
CSR-focused businesses would proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere, regardless of legality. CSR is the deliberate inclusion of public interest into corporate decision-making, that is the core business of the company or firm, and the honouring of a triple bottom line: people, planet, profit |
